The Duke Progresive Alliance was created in the winter of 1997-98 to serve as an organizational tool for cooperation among member groups. The groups are unified under the loose ly defined term "Progressive" representing a broad segment of the leftist socio-political spectrum between PC liberal and radical. It is important to realize that we are neither of these labels but rather what falls in between. We have no platform beyond our individual convictions to change our world for the better in a sensible, yet significant, way and to increase the influence of our individual organizations at the university and beyond through cooperation and mutual support.
I. Membership
Any new group may be permitted to enter into the Alliance by unanimous agreement by the presidents of the member organizations. No individual my be prohibited from membership except by unanimous agreement.
II. Organization/Officers
The Duke Progressive Alliance is run by a "Board" consisting of the presidents of the member organizations in which descisions are made by consensus. This board my create temporary "Officer/Office" positions as they deem fit. No "Office" shall be perme nant except by constitutional amendment. The Duke Progressive Alliance exists primarily as an organizational and educational entity for the purpose of cooperation. Descisions are non-binding for member groups.
