Why a Changemaker Workshop?

Do these comments sound familiar?

"This campus is too apathetic."

"The administration only pays lip-service to our concerns."

"Two or three people end up doing all the work."

"We keep repeating the same mistakes.  We need a way to train new people in our organization."

ORGANIZE to WIN!

The goal of the Changemaker Weekend is to give student and youth activists the tools to build strong organizations that can ensure long term change.  Through an interactive, hands-on environment, the Changemaker Weekend will help your group:

  • Overcome lack of participation on campus
  • Develop strategies to win specific issues campaigns
  • Gain hands-on organizing experience
  • Build more effective coalitions
  • Increase the membership, reputation, funding, and influence of your organization.

Changemakers learn from experience!

Students have a long history of organizing for positive changes on campus and in society.  Yet for too long, we have been forced to reinvent the wheel to make such changes.  The Changemaker Weekend addresses this problem by teaching successful strategies and skills developed by experienced organizers over the last 50 years.  Regardless of the issue you work on or your level of experience, the Changemaker Weekend can help you build strong, lasting organizations that will continue to grow beyond your tenure on campus.
