Article I: Purpose

The Duke Progressive Alliance is a group committed to the values of:

Our mission is to preserve, promote and defend these values in our campus community and beyond.

On campus, we seek to build alliances with other campus clubs, organizations and programs towards these ends. We hope to serve as a means whereby like-minded organizations may share ideas and resources, as well as a source of support and incubator for ideas which may not be addressed by any other organizations.

Article II: Membership

Membership in this organization is open to anyone expressing a desire to join. At all times, 3/4 of the organization membership shall consist of Duke undergraduates.

Article III: Officers

Two officers shall be selected from among the undergraduate members, and both designated secretaries. It shall be their joint responsibility to maintain an accounting of current members, to call meetings and determine meeting agendas, and to oversee any constitutional amendment referenda.

Article IV: Elections

Election of the secretaries shall be conducted in April of each year, and these individuals shall serve one-year terms. An extra election is necessitated as soon as this constitution is accepted in order to elect individuals to preside until April, but henceforth, elections shall take place yearly.

Article V: Amending the Constitution

Any member of the organization may propose an amendment to the constitution, which shall be presented at the next scheduled meeting, and upon which members may vote via e-mail or at the meeting; ratification requires consensus of all members present, as well as annoucement over the listserv.
