As a way to establish our role in the community as health care providers, doctoral students from the Duke Physical Therapy Class of 2008 have decided to embark on a service-learning trip to India. Our goal is to embrace the culture and to provide needed physical therapist services to the people of India. We will be traveling to Mumbai, where we will be working with a variety of charities and non-government organizations for two weeks. During this time we will provide volunteer services to those in need to gain a better understanding of the barriers faced by other health care systems.
