What is Duke CRU? Good question. Why not begin with our mission statement... "We desire to be a community of Christ-enamored individuals who, out of gratitude to the Lord, reach out to every Duke student and the world." But come on, what does that mean?

Another question is in order... What is the “complete” college experience? Amidst the blur of Duke academics and activities, Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) fosters an encouraging and challenging environment.

Beyond studies and academic challenges, a rich life may be found in the person of Christ and in the community of those who trust in him. Students in CRU seek the goal of growing closer to the Lord, going deeper with friends along the way.

Our vision for each and every student is to meet Christ, journey with friends, and respond in love. We foster this environment through small groups, large group weekly meetings, campus socials, and annual conferences.

  • Small Groups
Our small groups are a great place to get to know other students, explore the Bible together, raise questions, and discuss the implications for your life. Small groups provide an environment for spiritual growth -- a safe place where you can feel the freedom to laugh, cry, question, fall down, get back up, worship the Lord and learn to trust Him.

  • Weekly Meeting (CRU)
At a place like Duke, it’s easy to lose sight of God and get bogged down with academic endeavors. Come join us mid-week as we take time out to keep our focus on Christ. Our weekly meeting is time spent in praise and worship, in-depth Bible teaching, and fellowship with other Duke students. It’s a time for you to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ. In Spring 2008 we will meet on Thursday nights from 7:30-9:00, in the West Campus Divinity School.

  • Campus Socials
Keep an eye on our calendar for all the latest events and socials. Our socials are great places to meet other students and bring your friends.

  • Retreats and Conferences
It’s never too early to plan for our retreats and conferences! Here’s our usual list:
         - Fall Retreat
         - Winter Conference
         - Spring Break Service Retreat / Beach Week
         - Weekend Class Retreats

  • Summer Project
One of the best parts about CRU doesn't even happen during the school year- it occurs over the summer! Summer projects take you all around the country and the world to do ministry and grow in your own faith. Students from Duke have gone to places like Yellowstone National Park, Gatlinburg TN, East Asia, and Sweden!
