The Constitution

Preamble

As the student wing of the Democratic Party, we, the Duke Democrats, hereby dedicate ourselves to organizing college students from across the nation in order to inspire and assist the participation of Duke students into the political process and the Democratic Party. We strive to better our country and to promote the principles of equality, opportunity, social justice, and freedom within a just and strong society. As college students, we dedicate ourselves to representing the interests of students and youth within the political process.

As Democrats, we aim to promote the principles of our party. As part of our mission, we call for full participation without regard to sex, race ethnic origin, religion, physical handicap, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation. For these ends and upon these principles, we, Democratic college students, do hereby associate ourselves and adopt this Constitution as Duke Democrats.
