Elementary Teacher Preparation
Mission
In keeping with the mission of the Duke University Teacher Preparation Programs, The Elementary Teacher Preparation Program prepares candidates for the critical thinking and decision-making that will be required of them as caring and reflective professionals. Candidates acquire knowledge and skills that enable them to meet the changing needs of elementary children and their families. Preparation for all candidates includes work in technology-rich environments with diverse student populations.
Licensure
Upon the successful completion of the required program of study, students are eligible for a teaching license in elementary education (K-6). This is the only undergraduate program at Duke that results in state licensure. North Carolina has reciprocity agreements with most states.
