The James Madison Memorial Fellowship

The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation has recently released details about its 2008 fellowship program at its website. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2008. The Fellowship Program helps collegians and college graduates who wish to teach American history, American government and social studies.

Prospective applicants may request materials by e-mailing the Foundation directly or by calling 1-800-525-6928. They may also be downloaded from the Foundation's website.

Four Duke graduates have been awarded James Madison Fellowships since 1992 (when the fellowship program was initiated). Fellowships are made to one resident (occasionally two residents) of each state. Upperclassmen and graduates who are interested in secondary school teaching careers in history and government and who are eligible are strongly encouraged to apply.
