1) What is Eco-Olympics?

Eco-Olympics is a waste and energy reduction competition held every fall between all dorms on East Campus. The competition is made up of a series of events geared towards education and impact reduction. Students gain points by reducing energy, recycling, and attending events. When students participate in an event, they have the chance to win awesome prizes themselves in addition to winning points for their dorm.

The dorm that accumulates the most points will win cool dorm t-shirts for everyone, an ice cream party, and a cash prize! This is a great opportunity for tree-hugging, hippie environmentalists, bloodthirsty, competitive jocks, and everyone in between to work together to support their dorms and help the earth!

NEXT EVENT - Carbon Races
How much does your carbon footprint weigh you down? Come find out at the 2009 Eco-Olympics kick-off event! We’ll be having carbon races in front of Marketplace on the evening of Thursday, October 8.
What is a carbon race? Well, there are three steps:

  1. Calculate your carbon footprint using a short, online questionnaire.
  2. Attach weights to yourself proportional to the size of your footprint.
  3. Race other people!

You can get points for your dorm just for participating, and you’ll have a chance to win a free meal at Noodles and Company!

3) Up for grabs...
Organic cotton "Champions" t-shirts, a cash prize, and an ice cream party for the winning dorm!

A bunch of cool individual prizes, like
a mountain bike,
an iPod,
and FREE FOOD
