Freewater gives grants both semesters to students looking to make their own films. Grant application deadlines are announced over the listserve and on the calendar (If you would like to join the list-serve, simply send an email to majordomo@duke.edu with the line "subscribe freewater", in the body.) Members who have never received a grant are only eligible to apply for a mini film grant (up to $1000) or a digital video grant (up to $150). Members who have completed one of these projects are eligible to apply for a semester grant (up to $2500) in addition to mini and DV grants. If you are interested in applying for a grant, download the grant application form here and review all the required documents carefully. You cannot apply for a grant if you already have an open grant account.
