Greenhouse
The Biology Department Greenhouses offer excellent educational
opportunities for the community. In the plant teaching collection
students have on hand a remarkably diverse source of plant
materials for observation and experimentation in general
biology, plant anatomy, physiology, genetics and ecology.
This collection of plants is open to the public and is housed
in the forward rooms of the facility. In all, the greenhouse
covers over 12,000 square feet and is divided into 20 rooms
by a modern system of independent, solid state controllers,
evaporative cooling pads, fin-tube radiation, humidifiers
and automatic venting. The greenhouses are open from 10:00
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day except Friday. Visitors may
call to schedule tours in advance (preferably three weeks
early) at (919) 660-7334
