What's Coming Up at GCF:

Sunday, 29 May, Cookout at the Eno River


    Everyone who is still around Durham is invited to a cookout at the Eno River State Park on Sunday 05/29 at 1:00PM. Bring a friend or two with you! (Map)

A couple of us have already volunteered to bring hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as charcoal and lighter fluid. We still need the followi...ng:
games, snacks, disposable cutlery, plates, cups, drinks, and/or desserts. However, bringing something is not a precondition for coming!

**Please RSVP to Stephanie () or Sola () or to the Facebook Event by Friday 05/27 at 12 noon if there is a remote possibility you might come. This will help us plan the event appropriately.** Volunteers are needed to help set up.

Post on the Wall or email Stephanie or Sola if you need a ride or would like to organize a carpool!

This week, we'll start off large group by attending a lecture on the intersection of Christian faith and art by artist Makoto Fujimura, entitled "Illuminating the Gospels with the Tears of Christ." The lecture is from 5:30-7:00PM, inside the Duke Divinity School, room 0016 Westbrook.
Then we'll head over to the Duke Chapel basement to share a meal and hear a student testimony from Gary Kapral.

March 20 - Sunday afternoon - Durham Crop Walk

Registration Sign In: 1:30PM / Walk Start Time: 2:30PM (sharp!)
Meet: In front of the Duke Chapel; walk will be round trip to East Campus (5 mi. total).
GCF is collaborating with the International Christian Fellowship (ICF) this year for the annual Durham Crop Walk organized by Church World Service for hunger relief in our community and all over the world. A web page has been set up for anyone who would like to make a donation or participate in the walk or both. You may support someone else who is already doing the walk or you may register your name on the website as a walker and solicit donations from your friends, lab mates, etc. to support you. See website for details. With your support, we can meet (and hopefully exceed) our goal of raising $1,000 between GCF and ICF. Credit cards are accepted.
There will be *a lot* of people in the Duke Chapel Quad on that day. So, if you are interested in joining the rest of the GCF/ICF team, please call Sola at (585) 415-0962 and he will try to direct you to our exact location. Donation is not a requirement for participating in the walk.

**Operation Christmas Child**

Operation Christmas Child is an international service project run bySamaritan's Purse that sends "shoeboxes" of school supplies, toys, clothing and other little treats to children in need around the world.  The Women's Small Group will be putting together some boxes and we encourage other small groups or individuals to participate as well. Instructions on items to include and packing info are on the OCC website. Local drop-off locations the week of November 17-24 are Grey Stone Baptist Church and Chapel Hill Bible Church. If you bring completed boxes to Large Group on 11/14/08, Amber Díaz will drop all of them off.
