History
The history of Hoof 'n' Horn is a long and occasionally
sordid affair that stretches back seventy years to the first production in 1936 of a student-written show called The Devil Grins.
The group's current incarnation puts on three mainstage and one or two smaller productions every year, as a self-perpetuating production organization.
We are currently in the midst of a project to consolidate the history of Hoof 'n' Horn into a single volume so that everyone can know why the
rehearsal space is now called "Phred." Many gaps in our knowledge exist. For instance, most of our current members have no idea that the
Celestial Omnibus was once a part of our organization. Traditions like quarters and Green room are always introduced to new members, but the
history behind them is often confusing or inaccurate. Once you know the real story behind something in Hoof 'n' Horn, however, you are
part of our inside circle - the circle from which we draw our most dedicated performers and production council members. We want to include more
people in this circle, so we will continue our compilation of knowledge and hopefully it will soon be available here.
The links above will allow you to explore the history we have made available online. The 2002 page contains information about the past year of shows as well as our current alumni newsletter. The Past Shows page contains a list of all the shows produced by Hoof 'n' Horn throughout our history. The Archives is a hodgepodge of material from the old website and other online sources.
