Ayrenne Adams is a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio.  She is in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke, majoring in biomedical engineering and pursuing a minor in chemistry.  After several recent trips to the Career Center, she has narrowed down her career aspirations to healthcare administration or becoming a radiologist.  Before starting her career, however, she plans on taking a couple of years off in order to do community service in Africa and/or Southeast Asia through the Peace Corps or some other international volunteering organization.

During her freshman year at Duke, Ayrenne participated in Project Child, a program that involves tutoring children from Durham elementary schools.  She currently works at Perkins Library and is involved in the National Society of Black Engineers and the Black Student Alliance in addition to the Reggie Howard Program.  She hopes to take advantage of all of the unique opportunities at Duke and join more organizations on campus.  This summer, she plans on taking a break from her science-dominated academic schedule to study art history in Venice, Italy before returning to Duke to take a math course during summer session.  Outside of academics, Ayrenne enjoys hanging out with friends, reading, shopping, watching TV, and taking naps.
