
Derek Lindsey, T'14
Because
his father is in the military, Derek Lindsey has lived in a variety of
locations including Spain, Michigan, Maryland, Alabama, Nevada, and
North Carolina. When he's not in Durham, he now lives in Alexandria,
Virginia, where he ran track and was cross country captain, held
leadership roles in the Latin Club, volunteered with the Key Club, and
was part of the science honor society at Hayfield Secondary School.
This past summer, he worked for the Congressional Relations Team at
Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems in Arlington, VA. Previously, he
worked for Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, where he
worked with young students taking the course "Crystals and Polymers".
At Duke, Derek is a FOCUS mentor for the Ethics, Leadership, and Global
Citizenship cluster; he was a first-year advisory counselor this year;
and he works at the Kenan Institute for Ethics as part of Team Kenan - a
group of students that fosters ethical thought on campus. Derek intends
on majoring in Economics and attending law school upon graduation.
