Leigh Soares, T'10
A proud member of the Class of 2010, Leigh Soares believes that the Reginaldo Howard Scholarship program truly has been the basis of a fulfilling college experience for her thus far. Being a Reggie Scholar has offered her not only opportunities for intellectual expression and leadership development, but also the unique love and support that bind the group together. (Epic game nights are another fabulous bonus.) Her enrichment funding supported two summers of unpaid internship positions: one with Discovering Justice, an educational non-profit in Boston, and another with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs in Washington, D.C. These are just a few kinds of experiences the Reginaldo Howard Scholarship helps make possible.
Leigh also serves as president of the Lambda Omega Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and president of On Tap, Duke’s only tap dancing group. She works for two academic departments on campus as well as online for Essay101.com, LLC. She is a history major and a cultural anthropology minor from Newton, Massachusetts. Feel free to email her with any questions at l.soares@duke.edu.
