My name is Mthokozisi Bright Mazibuko, a freshman from KwaMashu, Durban, South Africa. I was born on November 2, 1988. I have lived all my life in South Africa and have enjoyed every single moment of it. Coming to Duke was a very big step in my life, one that came along almost by divine agency. To my surprise though, there was no fundamental difference between Duke and home. My time here thus far has been very enjoyable and informative.
I am very interested in applying problem-solving and analytical skills. Naturally I am interested in Math and Physics, subjects which I concentrated in during my time in Nqabakazulu High School. At Duke, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I also have a secondary interest in Philosophy and hope to take some classes in the field before my undergraduate term is over. When I am not studying or engaged in academics, I spend my time playing soccer, board games, biking, and listening to music.
Being a Reggie has been and continues to be a good experience. I like how the members of the group are united and unafraid to tackle sensitive matters in and about the university community, and still retain a good sense of how to have a good time. Besides that, being in the group feels like having brothers and sisters away from home, especially for someone far away from home, like me.
