Raised in Latham, New York, a suburb outside of Albany, Patrick Messac attended Shaker High School. There, he dedicated his life to serving others and his school. Patrick was the president of Best Buddies, an organization dedicated to integrating disabled students into everyday high school life. He was also the captain of the varsity swim team, Co-chair of the student government, and President of World of Difference, an organization devoted to raising awareness and funds for international crises. Among Patrick's most notable achievements are being selected as the Hugh O'Brian Leader of Tomorrow, receiving the Williams College Book Award, and, most recently, receiving the Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholarship.
Since attending Duke, Patrick has started to explore a variety of interests. He has expressed an interest in a Public Policy major as well as the World Health Certificate. Outside of school he is involved in the Duke WISER initiative, the Reggie Howard Memorial Scholars group, tutoring in Durham, Alpha Tau Omega, and Duke Student Government. In the future, he hopes to work for either a reform based not-for-profit organization or attend law school.
