Hinduism Awareness Week 2009

Thursday, April 2, 8:30-11pm: Movie Night, featuring "Welcome To Sajjanpur", @ the Keohane 4B-402 Media Room. This is a recent Hindi comedy made in 2008 and should be a great time for everyone. Come over, relax, and enjoy the show. Light refreshments will be served.

Sunday, April 5, 12-1pm: Sunday Discussion, @ Gray 200 (meet on the Chapel Steps and we will head over together). Our Sunday discussions are a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about Hinduism. We will discuss Hinduism within our lives and read from the Gita. Light snacks will be served.

Tuesday, April 7, 6:30pm: Hindu-Catholic Student Center Dinner-Restricted to first 7 responses (undergraduates will be given preference)-LOCATION TBD. Join us for a great dinner and engaging conversation with members of the Catholic Student Center. This event is one of our first with the Catholic Student Center and will be a great opportunity to learn more about each others' faiths.

Thursday, April 9, 6-8pm: Conflict and Coexistence - An Interfaith Hindu-Muslim Discussion, @ Divinity school classroom 0014. A collaboration with Duke Diya and the Muslim Students Association, this event will explore the threads of tension and unity that exist between Hindus and Muslims in today's society. Our advisor, Dr. Trivedi, will speak along with other Hindu and Muslim scholars. All are welcome!

 

The Hindu Students Association held its first ever "Hinduism Awareness Week" from April 27 to May 4, 2004. The aim of Hinduism Awareness Week is to introduce the Duke Community to various aspects of Hinduism. Events range from community service to yoga workshops to discourses about Hindu philosophy.
