Philip Cousin
Reverend Philip Cousin, Jr. is the pastor at St. Joseph A.M.E. church in
Durham, NC. His church is on Fayetteville Street and was founded in 1869
by a former slave named Edian Markham. Rev. Cousin's father was the
first A.M.E. bishop from N.C. and was the 27th pastor since Markham.
Rev. Cousin, Jr. has been involved in the civil rights struggle since he
was a student at UNC-CH and was a Duke Divinity graduate student. He is
currently on the board of education in Durham, as well as pastoring at St.
Joseph A.M.E.
