Julius DavisLater, he started a laundry with two other partners. The business was destroyed by his absence when he was drafted into the military.
He fought in the Korean War where he served on the front lines in an integrated unit until his brother was captured by the Chinese. At this time he was transferred to serve in Japan as the first black member of his new unit.
When he returned, he found his business in such bad shape that it folded so he was forced to rethink his life. Mr. Davis went to Durham Business College and received a degree in Finance. After graduating, Mr. Davis went to work for the Post Office, because at that time it paid better to deliver the mail than be a black accountant.
Along the way, Mr Davis has been very involved in his church, played Negro League Baseball, and raised a large family.
