Admission to the program is by regular application to the Graduate School, which includes submission of the Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test scores, college transcripts, and three recommendations. Because of the special requirements of planning individual curricula, applications for Fall term should be received by December 31, for Spring term by November 1.

Students considering entering the program may, without formally applying to the Graduate School, enroll in an appropriate course or courses through the Office of Continuing Education. They should at the same time make their interest known to the program director. Up to 12 units (4 courses) taken through Continuing Education may be transferred into the program. Enrollment through Continuing Education would also be appropriate for students who need to repair deficiencies in preparation for their prospective studies (e.g., language skills).

Those interested in the program are urged to write the Director, Professor David Bell, c/o Duke University Graduate School, Box 90068, Durham, NC 27708; phone: (919) 681-1559; or email: dfbell@duke.edu.
