SPRING 2001 SCHEDULE
TBA

FALL 2001 RESULTS
Saturday Sep 22 UNC-Wilmington Away Doubleheader W 5-1
W 9-3
Game 1 Jimmy Perry and Danny Guinn combined for 8 K's, and 1 ER in a 5-1 victory.
Game 2 Jared Newman gave up one earned run in a complete game, 9-3 win. Ed Nakayama led the offense with 3 doubles and 5 RBI.
Saturday Sep 29 James Madison Away Doubleheader L 11-0
L 3-0
Only ten players went on the road trip, and depth was a major problem in both games.
Game 1 A tough loss, as the heavy-hitting JMU offense hit 3 HRs in an 11-0 rout.
Game 2 Despite a solid outing from Brian Rafkin, the offense only managed 4 hits in a 3-0 defeat.
Sunday Sep 30 Virginia Away Single game L 11-6 Another tough loss, the third straight on the road trip. With only 10 players, many guys were playing out of position. Despite 11 hits and another good outing from Perry (7 IP, 2 ER), multiple errors killed the team in the 11-6 loss.
Saturday Oct 6 Georgia Tech HOME Doubleheader Rained out The weather did not cooperate, and the Georgia Tech players headed to the football stadium to watch the Yellow Jackets beat Duke 37-10.
Sunday Oct 7 Georgia Tech HOME Doubleheader W 14-8
W 5-4
Game 1 The offense racked up 14 runs on 14 hits. Josh Modell had 5 RBI. Jimmy Perry picked up the win on the mound.
Game 2 Danny Guinn pitched 5 strong innings before Alex Barna picked up the win in relief. Matt Kaloupek launched a two-run shot to center in the first.
Wednesday Oct 10 Greensboro College Away Single game W 6-2 The offense took advantage of poor fielding and good pitching by Newman (CG, 1 ER, 10 Ks) for an easy win.
Saturday Oct 20 UNC-Wilmington HOME Doubleheader L 12-11
W 7-2
Game 1 After UNC-W jumped out to an 8-run lead in the first inning, the Duke offense responded, tying the game at 8-8 after one. Unfortunately we couldn't pull out the win, in a tough loss.
Game 2 Solid defense and a strong outing from Alex Barna took the second game.
Sunday Oct 21 Greensboro College HOME Single game W 7-4 Jimmy Perry took the win, pitching 6 innings, and Tanner Mueller closed out the seventh with three K's. Everybody contributed on offense, as the team had 14 hits.
Saturday Oct 27 NC State HOME Doubleheader W 11-1
L 13-1
Parent's Weekend
Game 1 We easily took the first game, behind 6 innings on 1-hit baseball from Newman. We scored 11 runs on 14 hits in the 11-1 win. Attendance: double digits.
Game 2 A good start from Isaac Dolgovskij (5 innings, 1 ER) was wasted. Errors resulting from multiple guys playing out of position were costly, and we lost 13-1.
Saturday Nov 3 Wake Forest HOME Doubleheader W 7-6
W 9-0
Damn good day. Perry picked up the win in game one with a complete game. Ted Mann, Justin Darkoch, and Ben Murphy each had two hits in the 7-6 win.
Game two was an easy 9-0 victory, behind another great outing from Newman (7 IP, 3 H). Darkoch led the team with three hits.
Sunday Nov 11 UNC Home Single game L 14-11 We lost a tough game, 14-11 in 10 innings. The team had 15 hits, but it wasn't enough. Only 12 guys showed up to play, and three left during the game. The nine guys who stayed did a hell of a job. A 4-run rally in the bottom of the ninth (capped by Rafkin's 2-run single) tied the score at eleven, before Carolina scored 3 in the top of the tenth. I thought we played a damn good game today considering we only had one or two subs. Our fall season is over now. We finished 10-6, not too bad at all.
