Duke ties George Mason 1-1
HILLSBOROUGH, NC -- Duke and George Mason played to a 1-1 draw
on Saturday night at the SportsPlex. Duke got the on the scoreboard
just 55 seconds into the game on a Jesse Swanko goal and looked
to add to their strong offensive output of recent weeks.
However, the George Mason goalie, Paul Balcerzac would stop
the next 50 Duke shots, frustrating the Blue Devils all night.
Duke had numerous scoring chances in each period but could
not break through.
George Mason tied the game with 10:57 left in the third period
in what proved to be the game's final tally. Five minutes
of overtime could not provide a winner, despite several scoring
opportunities for each team.
GAME NOTES
The game was Duke's last home contest of the semester. The
next game for the Blue Devils will be a rematch against George
Mason on December 5... Duke's Calvin Hui (flu) and Joe Crotty
(arm injury) both missed the game. They are both probable
for Duke's next game... Duke had 24 penalty minutes while
George Mason had only six. |
