Duke falls to Virginia 8-4
HILLSBOROUGH, NC -- On Friday night, Duke suffered their first
conference loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. Virginia jumped out
to an early two goal lead in the first. Duke, playing with a
depleted lineup due to injury, managed to pop in a few and tie
it up midway through the stanza. Duke breakdowns however led
to two quick goals in the closing minute of the first.
The Blue Devils came out strong in the second period and
continued to battle back. Duke closed within one goal of the
lead, but UVA managed to send home a few more goals later
in the period, adding insurance to their lead. The game ended
with UVA taking the 8-4 win, putting the Blue Devils into
second place in the ACCHL heading into the holiday break.
