Mission:
To bring students to the Washington D.C. area to meet with Duke Alumni who work in and around governement to explore the skills and experiences that are needed to lead in the political environment.
Duke Goes to D.C. is a collaboration with the Duke Destinations program.

12:00pm: Getting Connected: DC insider luncheon Q&A (Andrea LaRue, T'87, Margaret Brooks, T'03, Paul Teller, T'93)
Three DC insiders; Andrea LaRue of NVG LLC., Margaret Brooks of B&D Consulting, and Paul Teller of the Republican Study Group and President of the Duke Club of Washington DC, discuss the art of gaining and maintaining professional relationships in a city and field that is dependent on personal connections. When do relationships go too far? How to understand when a contact should be kept close.

5:00pm: Being the New Kid on the Block: creating policy in a time of transition with Danielle Gray, T'00
Danielle Gray has quickly moved from the friendly confines of Duke to a position in the new administration that influences policy and governance. Danielle will share her experiences as a Harvard Law student, U.S. Supreme Court Clerk, and Obama staffer.

Lodging:
We will be staying at the Days Inn on Conneticut Avenue NW very close to a D.C. Metro station (mass transit) on the Red Line. Becuase of cost considerations all rooms will be quad (4) occupancy. Please indicate any special requests about lodging on your registration form in the appropriate field.
Transportation:
We will take a charter bus to-and-from Washington D.C. as well as to the events on Friday the 27th. Any transportation that you may need during free times will be your responsibility. Our hotel is very close to a Meto and there are many taxi companies in Washington D.C.
