Case #1: EKG

This EKG was obtained on a previously healthy 93 year-old female "found down" in her home in March.  After reviewing this EKG what do you think this patient's temperature is?  What about the EKG leads you to the conclusion you've drawn?

Answer: Her temperature was 91 deg F. Osborn waves are clearly evident on V2. Systemic hypothermia prolongs repolarization usually with a distinctive convex elevation of the J point.

Arrow indicates J point elevation. From Harrison's Internal Medicine.
