The purpose of Duke University School of Medicine's EMIG is to introduce medical students to the field of emergency medicine as well as foster students' interest in the field. Our mission includes:

  1. To disseminate information about the field of Emergency Medicine.
  2. To facilitate learning opportunities in Emergency Medicine.
  3. To provide a link to Emergency Physician mentors at Duke and in the community.
  4. To provide a network of Duke SOM alumni who have gone into EM.
  5. To provide information and support for away-rotation and residency program applications.

In this web site, EMIG provides up to date information about many topics and opportunities in emergency medicine at Duke. Residency information and 4th year elective opportunities are provided for the upperclassmen. For first and second year students, information about learning workshops as well as opportunities to gain exposure to the field of emergency medicine is provided. In addition, interesting and helpful articles as well as web links are provided for students to learn more about emergency medicine.

Membership in EMIG is open to any current Duke medical student who is thinking about emergency medicine as a specialty. Contact Eugene Kim, Samantha Phillips, or Cesar Avila for more information and be sure to check out the schedule of upcoming events.
