What mechanisms shape human decision making? Few things are more personal than the choices we make.
Each of us is continually faced with a wide range of decisions – from the mundane to the impossibly complex –
whose resolution shapes the course of our lives. Yet, how we make decisions remains one of the major unanswered
problems in cognitive psychology, behavioral economics, and cognitive neuroscience. This is also the cardinal
research topic within the emerging discipline of neuroeconomics. Our laboratory adopts an a integrative, multidisciplinary,
and highly collaborative approach toward understanding the behavioral phenomena and neural mechanisms underlying decision making.
We use functional neuroimaging methods to study economic decision making and social decision making, along with related
aspects of executive processing.
