Roy Crist

Following his graduation from the College of Biological Science at the University of Minnesota, Roy Crist entered the graduate program at the Rockefeller University in New York. Under the mentorship of Charles Gilbert, Roy conducted a series of studies aimed at elucidating the role experience and attention play in shaping early visual processing. After completing his graduate studies, Roy began post-doctoral study in the laboratory of Miguel Nicolelis at Duke University. Utilizing state-of-the-art methods for simultaneously recording the activity of large ensembles of neurons in multiple visual and motor cortical regions, Roy studied the cortical mechanisms underlying the learning of novel visual-motor transformations. Following a desire to incorporate methods for examining human cortical activity into his studies of perception, Roy obtained a position in the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. Roy is currently a post-doctoral research associate in the laboratory of Marty Woldorff where he continues to study the influence of experience and attention on the cortical processing of visual information.
