THE 2nd ANNUAL MMM PRODUCES 10 AMAZING SHORT FILMS!

Over the weekend of March 29-30, ten teams of Duke & NC Central students worked together to create ten

incredible movies based on the five winning screenplays from this year’s Script Competition.

HOLLYWOOD COMES TO DUKE FOR THE 2008 MMM!

BOB BALABAN (Director of HBO’s Bernard & Doris, Producer of Gosford Park, Acclaimed Actor, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show) and BILL TEITLER (Producer of Jumanji, Mr. Holland’s Opus, The Polar Express) are coming to Duke for the 2008 Movie Making Marathon weekend, March 29-30!

These talented industry professionals will be a part of our 2008 jury panel and will join our MMM teams (made up of both Duke and NCCU students this year!) on the set for once-in-a-lifetime production advice.

NEW CAMERAS & GEARING UP FOR MMM 2008!

Thanks to Dean George McLendon and the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, the Movie Making Marathon teams will be using 10 brand-new high-definition camera kits! In addition, these kits also include brand-new microphones, ensuring that the movies will sound incredible! We’re very excited to announce this major upgrade of equipment from last year.

Finally- a special thanks to everyone who submitted screenplays to our 2nd annual competition! We’ll be announcing and honoring the winners at the premiere of the MMM films on Sunday, March 30- so be sure to join us to see who won!

SCREENPLAY COMPETITION DEADLINE EXTENSION!

In response to student demand, we’ve decided to extend the Short Screenplay Competition two extra weeks!

This means you have until Monday, December 17 at 11:59 PM to submit a screenplay for the Movie Making Marathon!

SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP THURSDAY &

COLLABORATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Join us this Thursday, November 8 for our Screenwriting Workshop. It should be a fun evening of MMM films, brainstorming, and a chance to learn all about writing a short screenplay.

Open to everyone, regardless of prior writing experience!

Also, we’d like to announce at this time that in the spirit of filmmaking collaboration, we are inviting UNC and NC Central undergraduate students to enter their work in this year’s short screenplay competition. This should be an excellent expansion for MMM2008!

After a very successful first year of the Movie Making Marathon, the event is back and bigger and better than ever!

Last year, Duke students shot and edited incredible short films written by their classmates in only 24 hours! Now we’re back for 2008 and inviting you to be a part of filmmaking adventure.
