HOW DO I SIGN-UP FOR A TEAM?

Come to the Crew Call on March 4 and sign-up for a spot!

Come early to make sure you make it on a team - spots are first come, first serve.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SIGN-UP?

By signing up at the Crew Call, you’ll be placed on a team of students that compete during the Movie Making Marathon Competition Weekend (March 29-30) to make a short film in just 24 hours!

If you’d like to sign-up for a team, make sure you can commit to the 24-hour competition (8 AM on Saturday, March 29 to 8 AM Sunday, March 30) and can come to the premiere of your movie (the evening of March 30!)

HOW MANY TEAMS?

There will be 10 teams for the 2008 Movie Making Marathon. This year, teams will include both Duke and NCCU students! Also, each team will have a

Team Coordinator, a student from Elisabeth Benfey’s filmmaking course,

From Stories to Movies.

All Team Coordinators will have been trained (through their class) with the MMM cameras and editing software so every team will start out on an even playing field!

CAN I SIGN-UP WITH A GROUP?

Last year, joining an MMM team was done on an individual basis. This is because the Movie Making Marathon is predominantly an Social & Academic experience and not primarily a competition. We wanted all team members to have an opportunity to learn from each other and make sure that those who were new to filmmaking were not at a disadvantage or discouraged by competing against far more experienced groups. Our 2007 participants who all signed up individually had a great experience and really enjoyed working with and meeting new people

during the production of their films.

This year, we are offering a NEW option to those who are anxious about participating on their own and would like to work with a friend.

As long as space remains,

you may sign-up with one other student as a pair.

This means you and a friend can work together as part of one of the MMM teams and also have the opportunity to work with other great students that are interested in filmmaking! Come early to the event if you’d like to use this option

as team spots will go quickly.
