FILM SERIES

Freewater (“Indieflix”) Films, shown on Thursday and Friday nights, are recent films that we consider ‘off the beaten track.’ These include independent films, documentaries, and foreign films, and are typically shown in a limited number of cities. Freewater Films give Duke audiences the chance to see films they might not have beeen able to see at the local multiplex.

Quadflix Films, shown on Saturdays and Sundays, are recent blockbusters and box office hits. Quadflix Films are usually the most popular movies of the year, released by the biggest studios.

Movies@Midnight, shown on Friday nights, are films from the past, usually cult movies, campy hits, musicals, and Hollywood classics.

Advance Screenings come along a few times each semester on certain Thursdays at midnight. Super exclusive, Sneak Previews give Duke students the chance to see films before they hit theaters, days and sometimes months in advance of the official release. Join our Facebook group to be the first to know about our upcoming advance screenings and get tips on how to score tickets.

Freewater Singalongs occur once or twice each semester on certain Fridays at midnight, featuring you singing along to your favorite childhood films and newer musicals. Previous Freewater Singalongs include Beauty and the Beast, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, Grease, Rent, and Aladdin.
