Labor Day Weekend Pops Concert on Sunday, August 31, 2008

The Duke Symphony's first concert of the season will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 6:00 PM on the East Campus main quad. Bring a picnic and welcome in the new academic year! Featuring show tunes, patriotic works, and music from your favorite movies.

The Duke Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Harry Davidson, seeks to create an exciting and enlivening environment for concert-goers and performers alike.

Auditions for the 2008-09 season will take place from August 25 through August 28. For more information, visit the audition information page.

The orchestra's repertoire ranges from the seventeenth to the twentieth century and includes both well-known masterpieces and rarely heard works. The ensemble consists of more than 100 musicians drawn mostly from the Duke student body. Membership is open to all in the university community. The orchestra rehearses twice a week and gives more than four concerts a year.
