AAX History...

The birth of the now Infamous Alpha Alpha Chi Chapter occurred on October 24, 1993. The chapter was founded by six noble men set on changing the atmosphere of black greek life on Duke University's campus. The goal for these ambitious young men was to have an active Black Greek lettered organization on Duke's campus unquestionably aimed at fulfilling its true purpose as a fraternal organization. In the fall of 1993, these six men crossed the burning sands into Sigmaland. However, many obstacles faced these six men of Sigma, and the Alpha Alpha Chi chapter temporarily graduated along with those six brothers in the Spring of 1995. Three years later, however, a group of young men with the same goals in mind sought the truth of Sigma once again. Those brothers successfully resurrected the Alpha Alpha Chi chapter on February 28, 1998. From there the Alpha Alpha Chi Chapter has become a major presence on the campus of Duke University. Since then new members have been inducted into this sacred brotherhood each year. Although we are a relatively new organization on campus our commitment and drive are sure to create a legacy that will be felt at Duke for years to come. Phi Beta Sigma is at Duke University to stay.
