This is an example of a reflection form that you must complete EACH time you tutor. You will not receive credit for your tutoring sessions without completing a reflection form.

1. Briefly discuss the activities, content, skills, and strategies that you worked on today.

This does not imply that you need to cover reading and math in each lesson. In fact, you may only focus on one the entire semester.

Tutor/Tutee Reflection: Please reflect on today’s session by writing 5-7 sentences. We do check for this! Please be thorough when answering these questions.

2. What worked/did not work well today? Why or why not?

If everything worked well and you did not face any problems, great! Tell us about what you did in your lesson, and some important observations you made. If a lesson worked well, why do you think it was so successful? What insight does this give you on how your tutee learns?

3. What will I do differently next time? What will I continue to do? How will I go about doing it? What insights did I have today about the tutee and myself?

Again, you may not think you should do anything differently next time. However, there is always room for improvement. For example, if flashcards worked well with your tutee, how can you further implement this tool of learning to make the next lesson even more beneficial? What did you learn during this lesson?

4. Did you notice anything today that connects what you are learning in class?

This is a great place to show what you have learned in class. There are many connections that can be made between your lessons and class; you just need to think about it. While in class, it may be helpful to jot down topics that could relate to your tutee so that you remember any similarities and look out for them during your sessions. Please be thorough in this section.

5. Do you have any questions/concerns?
