  • Compressed or encoded files : If contents of file start with "begin": right-click on file name and select "decode"; if file name ends with .zip: use winzip to extract files

  • Print problems, check the following:1. Which printer was selected -  room 317 network printer (polihp5si), room 301 network printer (polihp3si); 2. Print queue   - if your job is there do not send again; 3. Which tray/type of paper is selected - select automatic for plain paper in room 317, if A4 is selected delete print job and reformat document for letter size; 4. Printer display panel - if blank turn on power, if red light is flashing see error message on panel, if ready light is on and nothing is printing or spooling, see one of the consultants under Departmental Support
  • Scanner; Full page scanner in computer lab (317 Perkins) for images and text.  Log into network from computer to the left of the scanner, double-click on the scanner folder, select photo paint for images or omnipage for text.
