Man Charged With Filing False Police Report
Durham, N.C. - A Durham man has been charged with reporting a false crime after a police investigation of his claim determined he was not robbed off East Campus. Jason Currie, 31, a technician at Duke Hospital , originally reported to Durham Police that he was knocked to the ground and robbed of $40 at 3:22 a.m. March 23 as he walked on Markham Avenue . Currie told police the suspect did not brandish a weapon. Durham Police later talked with Currie and the alleged suspect and determined the incident occurred as a result of a drug transaction, according to Durham Police.
