WOMAN INJURED IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT
DURHAM, N.C. -- A 68-year-old Durham woman was injured Friday when she lost control of her vehicle at the Duke Center for Living and struck three unoccupied cars.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Durham Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened at 12:28 p.m. as the woman was dropping off a passenger at the Center for Living off Morreene Road, said Maj. Phyllis Cooper of Duke Police.
“Somehow she lost control of the car while in reverse, it accelerated and ran into three unoccupied cars,’’ Cooper said.
When the woman put her Mazda Protégé in drive, the car accelerated forward and struck a walkway post at the Andrew G. Wallace Clinic, also at the Center for Living. No one was injured. The post sustained about $1,000 worth of damage.
No charges are expected.
