About This Site

The new Center for Race Relations website was launched in October 2004. Designed and developed by SOLEIO and shao.studios, the website was built on a foundation of web standards — valid, semantically structured code resulting in pages that look great on modern browsers yet are still functional and accessible on older ones.

Web Standards

This website is designed according to W3C web standards with an emphasis on usability and accessibility. Web standards ensure consistency in a site's appearance, performance and behavior across all standards-compliant web browsers.

This progressive design approach increases the scalability and longevity of a website while providing an optimized code environment for search engine spiders and programs. Web standards reduce the cost and complexity of site development via understandable, semantic markup. A standards-based site is also accessible to the broadest range of web platforms and devices.

Thus in keeping with this design philosophy, all pages are coded in valid XHTML and CSS. For more information on standards-compliant design, we encourage you to visit the Web Standards Project website.
