Donating
REMEDY at Duke collects
clean, unused surplus medical supplies from Duke Hospital inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, operating rooms, and
clinical laboratories. The Sterile Processing and Materials Management
departments assist in identifying and processing these materials.
Typically recovered items include:

| � Isolation masks |
� Antiseptic solutions |
| � Sterile disposable
gowns |
� IV tubing and catheters |
| � Suction tubing and

� Orthopedic supports
and casting supplies |
| � Urinary catheters and
drains |
� Toiletries and
personal care items |
| � Respiratory tubing and
supplies |
� Syringes and IV needles |
| � Laboratory and
phlebotomy supplies |
� Stethoscopes,
scissors, blades, instrument |
If you have
surplus medical supplies in your work area that cannot be redirected
into the Duke supply chain, and would like to donate these items to the
REMEDY program, email one of the program coordinators and we will
arrange for one of our volunteers to pick them up.
REMEDY
at Duke does NOT recover medications, IV solutions, nutritional
products or other perishable items that require special storage and
handling.
Items that are expired, highly specialized
or technologically complex are not generally suitable for use in
third-world settings
Surplus Duke property such as furniture,
machines, equipment, computers, monitors, etc. is handled by Duke
