Battery Housing
The four lithium polymer batteries are housed in a clear acrylic tube (4-1/2"
OD X 4" ID, 1' Length). Each end is terminated with a double o-ring aluminum
end cap. The end caps were machined in the Undergraduate Machine Shop using
a lathe. A Subconn underwater
connector
provides 4 wires for power distribution from the battery tube to the electronics
tube. Four pieces of curved stainless steel ribbon hold the battery tube securely
within the central disk. The battery tube can be easily removed by unscrewing
the two wing nuts that connect the stainless still ribbons to the central
disk.
