Overview

Army ROTC teaches students how to lead, solve problems, and provides opportunities for them to earn a commission as
an Army Second Lieutenant. The Army ROTC Program at Duke University offers numerous and varied opportunities
for scholarships, leadership training, and financial incentives. Scholarship opportunities are available for high school
seniors through graduate students. Active duty soldiers can pursue scholarship opportunities through the Green to Gold
Program. Army Reserve and National Guard soldiers also can obtain Army ROTC scholarships through the Guaranteed
Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Program.

The Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) is a very attractive program for members of the North CarolinaArmy
National Guard and the Army Reserve. The most lucrative financial incentive pays full tuition and a monthly allotment
of over $1500. Additionally, one can be guaranteed Reserve Component duty after graduation
