Andrew Lotze My current position is Platoon Leader of a 40 person headquarters platoon in the 542nd Air Ambulance Company. In addition to supervising the day-to-day activities of the Motor Pool, POL, DFAC, Operations, Supply, NBC and Training sections, I am used as a UH-60 pilot. I am the Company's expert on logistics and budget as well as procurement. The 542nd is located at Camp Page, Korea. It's primary mission is to provide Medical Evacuation support to the 2nd Infantry Division. To accomplish this, we use 15 UH-60A, 22 vehicles, and 135 soldiers with the ability to set up operations anywhere that vehicles can drive or aircraft can fly. Since graduating from Duke, I have lived all over the United States and am working on the world. Immediately after graduation, I attended NALC at Ft. Lewis, WA. After graduation from NALC, I was commissioned as a 2LT. Duke ROTC then allowed me to participate in Robin Sage at Ft. Bragg, a two-week Special Forces qualification course. I acted as XO of a 10 man guerilla element that liaised with an A-team-in-training. While waiting for my branch assignment, I was able to research the possibility of Gold Bar Recruiting at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. From November to February, I worked with cadets and students and picked the brain of the recruiting officer, a UH-60 pilot. In March, I made my way to Ft. Rucker, AL to begin OBC and flight school. For the next year, I learned combined arms doctrine as well as how to fly the Bell-206 Jet Ranger and the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk. After earning my wings, I was assigned to Korea as my first duty station. I arrived in Korea in March 2004, and was integrated into company operations. In March of 2005, I expect to PCS to my next assignment, Soto Cano Airbase in Honduras.
