Charles Bies

I've got what I know is the best job in the world and there's nothing else I'd rather be doing with my life right now. (Even though it was -6 degrees outside when that picture was taken...)

Duke ROTC is the prime reason why my platoon repeatedly sets the battalion standard for conduct, maintenance, and performance. Everything I learned about being a successful leader, I learned from my cadre at Duke.

That would do. As for what has been going on, my company went through services right when I got here. After services, we left for the field for two weeks to shoot a gunnery in the snow (probably the coldest I have ever been in my life--most days the temperature was -6F ). All of the tanks in my platoon qualified, as well as the battalion commander's tank, whose crew is assigned to my platoon. Afterwards, the brigade went on block leave, which just ended, and right now my company is in red cycle, so my day to day platoon consists of 4 people (including me and the platoon sergeant). Nothing else is coming up except for a company and then later brigade change of commands next month. Rumor has it that our gunneries scheduled for September and February have been cancelled, as well as our Hohenfels rotation this December, because we are turning our tanks in for strykers next winter (D'oh!!!)
