 Branch Orientation

Mark Hoffman

I was a branch detailed Armor officer. I graduated as the 2nd Honor Graduate from Armor OBC and also graduated the Scout Platoon Leader Course and was the Officer Honor Graduate at Airborne School. The honor graduate thing isn't a big deal, but I would tell cadets that it gives a good first impression to your gaining unit. So that's why I'm including it.

I was a platoon leader in 2-72 Armor Regiment at Camp Casey, Korea. I left Korea and moved to Mannheim, Germany. I deployed to Kuwait in January 2003 after three months in Germany. I returned in February, 2004. I served as the XO of the 377th Transportation Company (HET) during OIF. I left the XO position to become my Battalion S-1/Adjutant in June 2003. I did that for a year, and am now the Battalion Maintenance Officer for my Battalion. All three of our companies are heading back to Iraq this DEC/JAN. However, our HHD, which I am a part of, is now no longer going after we were told we were going this summer. I can't explain why, but that is how the Army planned it. So we are very busy preparing our companies for war.
