Scott Powell

I've attached a picture of my wife, Laura (Zifer, T '98) and I. Since Duke - wow, that's a long time! Well, starting in 1997, I served as a combat engineer platoon leader, construction company executive officer, and battalion construction management officer in the 41st Engineer Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division. I also served 7 months in Bosnia as a construction platoon leader and division construction management officer. In 2001, I joined the Colorado Army National Guard and served as company commander for the 947th Engineer Company (CSE). In my civilian career, I am a project engineer for Earth Tech, Inc., an environmental and infrastructure engineering firm. I am currently on assignment for them in Florida under our contract with FEMA to provide disaster assistance to the victims of Hurricane Ivan.

This picture was taken right after I took command of the 947th Engineer Company (Combat Support Equipment) of the Colorado Army National Guard in Pueblo, Colorado in July 2002. I relinquished command in January 2004, and am currently serving in the IRR. Prior to serving in the Colorado Guard, I was in the 41st Engineer Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.
