General Information

The Duke University Ski Team is club sport, we compete against other universities, just not at the varsity level. We also have lots of fun! Every year we begin with dryland practices. These practices are optional but recommended in order to be in good physical shape for the racing season. We practice 4 days a week alternating physical activities on a daily bases. Some of these activities include agility drills, running, frisbee, and touch football. These practices last until Winter Break, when the real fun begins!!

During Winter Break, those who have shown commitment to the team, pack their bags and head to the mountains to train for the season. In the past, the team has trained at Whistler, Canada, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We stay in great condos and ski for six full days. Generally we are coached four of the mornings, the rest of the time is free skiing. Nights are filled with dancing, hottubs and movies. We return before the end of winter break ready to race.

We race four to five weekends every year. The races take place in VA, WV and NC (except for regionals which we plan on attending). The races take place on either Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, depending on the weekend. Click here to see our schedule. Race weekends are really exciting and the vans provide a lot of time for team bonding!
