On April 7, 1991, a small group of nervous a cappella amateurs, dressed in their blue blazers, khaki pants, and flower ties, ran into the cramped commons room of Lancaster Dorm at Duke University, to sing their limited repertoire of four-part harmony for the eager crowd. Forty long minutes, pounds of perspiration, and a standing ovation later, Speak of the Devil was officially born.

It was one year earlier that two restless Freshmen, Preston Kim and Walter Moore, conceived of the idea to found a new singing group. Over the next six months they assembled a small band of ten freshmen and sophomores who wanted to share their dream. This original group began by singing old favorites like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Book of Love," "Run Around Sue," and "Come Go With Me," and has since evolved to include many contemporary hits such as "Tearin' Up My Heart," "Why Should I Cry For You," and "Quit Playin' Games with My Heart."

Speak of the Devil continues to thrive through the support of friends, families, and followers, who all love the group's creative energy and willingness to try anything.
