Meet & Greet, find your dorm room, hang out, explore campus with current University Scholars

5:00 - 6:00 pm - Introduction to the USP

University Scholars Program finalists meet current scholars and learn about the University Scholars Program.

7:30 pm-9:30 pm: "Equinox: A Puzzle Hunt"

(130 Social Psychology Building and various locations, West Campus)

9:30pm-?: Free Time with Hosts & Current Unis
Many options to consider. Redeem your coupon for free ice cream at Francesca’s or make a midnight run to Cosmic Cantina. Catch a flick at Freewater Films. Check out a show at the Duke Coffeehouse. Stay up all night and play games in the GA Down Under. Enjoy – the night is young!

Thursday, March 29

8:30 am-4:00 pm: Attend Classes with current scholars
(various locations)

(French Family Sciences Center - various rooms)
Includes a 30-45 minute interview with committees. Interview times and rooms are noted on your folder. University Scholars Program Faculty Advisors and current Graduate, Professional School and Undergraduate Scholars will be leading the interviews. Also includes a 10 minute conversation with the Director of the USP, Victoria Lodewick.

11:00 am - Tour of Campus
(West Campus Bus Stop)

12:30 pm-1:30 pm: Ethics Lecture Lunch with Prof. Alex Rosenberg
((The Marketplace, East Campus)
Purchase lunch at a West Campus vendor of your choosing and meet up with current scholars & other Uni finalists in front of the James B. Duke statue on Main West Quad. An excellent venue for people watching. Rain day location: Alpine Atrium in The Bryan Center.

2:00 pm - Tour of Campus

4:00 - 4:45 pm - Introduction to the USP with current University Scholars

5:00 - 6:30 pm - President's Reception
(Washington Duke Inn)

7:00 pm - Dinner with Faculty in Residence
(meet at East Campus Bus Stop)
(Epworth and Alspaugh Residence Halls)

Join current undergraduate University Scholars for dinner with Faculty-in-Residence on East Campus, including Professors Brenda Neece and Rebecca Troxler in Music and Professor Bob Cook-Deegan of the Institute for Genome Sciences, Law, and Policy.

3:30-5:00 - Free Time/ Nasher Art Museum / DiVE Tour for Engineers
Join the other finalists for a scavenger hunt at 2:00 pm. Check out the Nasher Art Museum. Tour the DiVE (Duke Immersive Virtual Environment). Relax in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, one of Duke’s most beautiful locales. Meeting spot: Garden Gazebo. Rain day location: (East Campus). For all finalists.

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm - Ideas Conference and Dinner Buffet
(Smith Warehouse, various locations)
All finalists and current scholars invited.

10:00 am-12:00 pm: USP Farewell Brunch Seminar
Come experience a USP Seminar with our focus on interdisciplinary approaches to knowledge. Professor Huettel's work exemplifies interdisciplinarity, bringing together research, methodology, and knowledge from neuroscience and economics.

Finalists Depart

If you are leaving by plane, OUSF will arrange for your transportation to RDU Airport. Please consult your Welcome Packet for those specifics.
